A few really good reasons why a fisherman or sailor for that matter would choose the Beaufort - Morehead City area............,beginning with the inlet...Beaufort Inlet is a deep water inlet that serves the Morehead City State Port.........,therefore, while other inlets up and down the coast are in jeopardy of losing dredging services, our inlet will be perpetually maintained and kept deep. The inlet is less than a mile from the Mainsail/Town Creek/Beaufort location.
Secondly...........,the fishing grounds are everywhere..........,the area boasts the best network of estuaries on the East Coast for inshore salt water fishing..........,the Gulf Stream and offshore waters are close by with the Stream itself coming inside of 30 miles during the fishing season........,the Continental Shelf is less than 40 miles which is really good........,the Continental Shelf out of Wrightsville Beach for example is over 60 miles...........,this means a couple of hours less running time each day to the offshore fishing grounds which is very convenient.........,not to mention the amount of savings in fuel costs........,
Thirdly.......,for someone who does not have an offshore or inshore boat for that matter.........,the Beaufort/Morehead City area offers the largest charter fishing fleet on the NC coast............,
Next, for the boating enthusiast with a power or sail type boat..........,the area offers a wide variety of dockage areas, boatyards for haul out and maintenance, and numerous deep water marinas............,also, the Neuse River and Pamlico Sound, Town of Oriental, etc., are less than an hour by boat just up the Intracoastal Waterway from the Mainsail area........,
Then we have Cape Lookout National Seashore and Shackleford Banks............,which are pristine beaches accessible by boat or ferry and plenty lively during the Spring, Summer, and Fall............
Bottom line............,there is not a finer place to call home on the East Coast of North America................
